R.I.P.D. Film Adds Kevin Bacon to Cast

As more and more comic books become adapted into films, more and more big name stars continue to be attached the projects. It doesn't seem to matter how below the radar the project is, as R.I.P.D., a four-issue series published by Dark Horse several years ago, demonstrates. It's been announced today that Kevin Bacon, yes, that Kevin Bacon, will be joining the cast of this film as the villain yet to be named. Ryan Reynolds is already attached to the project, which is slated for a 2013 release at this time. The movie is being billed as an "action-comedy", and will follow the story of Nick Cruz, a man murdered by someone unknown just as his life was taking off in all areas. Cruz is recruited to the Rest In Peace Department and works for none other than the divine policeman himself. The story will presumably focus on the thrust of the comic series, which was Nick's attempts to find out the man who killed him. Perhaps this is who Bacon will be playing?
