Veteran comic book creators Ron Marz and Jim Starlin are headlining a small, one-day comic book convention in Woodstock, New York later this month to benefit the Woodstock Day School, a private school serving kids from preschool through high school.
On May 20th, a small convention featuring (at least) seven creators will roll into Woodstock, with signing appearances, panels and more, all for $5.
It should be a frenzied day of activity, given everything they’ve got planned for a five-hour window on a Sunday; read on to see how the organizers describe the event:
Comic book fans in the area now have an amazing event to look forward to. The Woodstock Day School will be hosting a comic book show on its Glasco Turnpike campus on Sunday, May 20th. Enthusiasts can look forward to getting a taste of all things comic all in one place, while also getting a chance to benefit the school.
The event will feature appearances by writers and artists Jim Starlin, Joe Sinnott, Ron Marz, Matthew Dow Smith, Richard Clark, Jennifer Meyer and David Rodriguez, who will be on hand to sign autographs, do sketches and discuss their work. Art exhibits will include a History of Batman, How Comics are Made, and Choosing Cover Art. There will also be free Magic the Gathering and YuGiOh tournaments, local comic and book store vendors, food, and more! Fans will also be treated to discussion panels with the guests on a range of topics, including Comic Storytelling, Painting, and Comics Step by Step.
Admission for the event will be $5 ,with all proceeds benefiting the school. Woodstock Day School is an independent place of learning for students from nursery through high school, committed to unlocking the full potential in each child.
We invite local media to come out for this event, and we thank you for helping spread the word about the “Woodstock Day School Comic Convention.”
