The Walking Dead Rips Off The Avengers

At Comicbook.com, we're really excited about the upcoming Walking Dead season 3 premiere. However, as we were looking through some advance photos of the premiere episode, one photo in particular jumped out at us as being just a little bit too familiar. Over the summer, there was a particular movie that quite a few people saw (and by quite a few people we mean essentially everyone on earth). The Avengers shattered the opening weekend U.S. box office record on its way to accumulating over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. One of our very favorite scenes from The Avengers is when the entire team forms in a circle with their backs to each other. Team leader Captain America is front and center, as the other Avengers turn and look at the alien threat they are facing. Some of the Avengers are armed with various weapons, while Black Widow is the lone female in the group. Compare that scene to this photo from The Walking Dead season 3. Some of the survivors are armed with various weapons, while Maggie Greene is the lone female in the group.

The Walking Dead has totally ripped off the Avengers. We're outraged! Well, not really outraged, but we think it's a really cool homage to The Avengers, whether intentional or accidental (as it's not like the Avengers invented people forming in a circle with their backs to each other). Now, if T-Dog blows up the main zombie compound and all the other zombies magically fall dead in The Walking Dead season 3 premiere, then we will know for certain the circle similarities were more than coincidental.
