Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 Will Be Released in 3D

by Russ Burlingame

After the massive success of Marvel's The Avengers in 3D, apparently the studio has decided to go all in, announcing today that its next two releases--Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World--will both be released in the format theatrically.

In a just-released update to their theatrical schedule, Walt Disney Studio announced that "Iron Man 3 will now be available in 3D – previously announced 5/3/13 wide playdate is unchanged" and "Thor: The Dark World is final title of previous “Thor 2” and will now be available in 3D – previously announced 11/8/13 wide playdate is unchanged."

While no official announcement has yet been made about Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Joss Whedon's "Untitled Avengers Sequel" or Ant-Man (which just got an official release date in this same document) from Edgar Wright, it's probably safe to assume that those, too, will be released in 3D unless something truly catastrophic happens to the 3D marketplace between now and then.
