Wreck-It Ralph Box Office

After Hurricane Sandy put a damper on last weekend's box office, Disney looks to be in position to score a hit this weekend. Virtually everyone is projecting that the animated videogame movie Wreck-It Ralph will have no trouble winning the weekend box office by a large margin. What is a little more up in the air is if Wreck-It Ralph will be hurt by any of the lingering effects of Hurricane Sandy. While most of the East Coast theaters that were closed by the storm appear to be re-opening this weekend, there are still a lot of people without power or busy cleaning up debris where going to a movie might not be a priority. Then again, if someone is still without power, going to an air-conditioned theater might be just the ticket to help get over that the TV at home isn't powering up. While box office expert projections for Wreck-It Ralph are falling in the range of $35 million to $50 million, Comicbook.com is predicting that the film will finish on the high side of those projections. Wreck-It Ralph is one of those rare movies that should appeal to not only kids but also their parents, who will likely feel some sense of nostalgia over the eighties video game characters that appear in the movie. Plus, the early reviews for Wreck-It Ralph have also been very positive, and good word-of-mouth often means a movie will meet or exceed box office expectations.
