Michael Bay is one of the most successful directors in the movie business, but he is also one of the maligned directors in the movie business among fanboys. While there's no denying that the Transformers movies have raked in tons of money at the box office, some longtime Transformers fans have not been happy with the movies. Any article about Michael Bay usually brings a bevy of comments about how he's destroyed people's childhoods. Of course, recent reports about another film Michael Bay is producing has not helped his reputation among the fanboy community. When news broke that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be aliens in a Bay produced reboot of the franchise, reaction was quick and overwhelmingly against the idea. Now, director Michael Bay has announced that Mark Wahlberg will be a part of Transformers 4. For many this is yet another controversial move by Michael Bay. Even though Wahlberg has gone on to be a very successful actor, many still envision him as Marky Mark of the Funky Bunch. However, Mark Wahlberg has come a long way since those days, and his recent movies have been successful and entertaining. Mark Wahlberg actually has a style where he's convincingly able to play a tough guy and also display a sense of humor. Wahlberg could be a very good fit for a Transformers movie, and his very presence will likely elevate the quality of both the acting and the plot in the movie. Mark Wahlberg is fresh off his most successful role yet in the smash summer hit Ted, which racked up $218 million at the box office. Wahlberg's fan following has been building over the years, and he will bring new viewers into the Transformers franchise. While it's easy to criticize Michael Bay about past Transformers movies and the whole alien Turtles thing, casting Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4 actually looks like a really good move to us. Maybe, Michael Bay will go out with a bang on the Transformers franchise, and the inclusion of Mark Wahlberg gives us hope that Transformers 4 could wind up being by far the best movie of the franchise.
