Last year, The Walking Dead #100 was the best-selling comic book of the year by quite a few copies...but it wasn't the one that generated the most dollars. That title went to Amazing Spider-Man #700 which, while it has sold more than 100,000 fewer than The Walking Dead #100 as of this writing, has generated more than $2.5 million  in sales due to its $7.99 price tag. That's double what most Marvel Comics cost and even a fair bit more than most "double-sized" Marvel and DC books, which tend to tack and extra buck or two on but acknowledge that most of the expense in getting a comic into your hands is already borne by the first $3.99 and extra pages don't increase the cost to the publisher at a similar rate. Well, now DC wants in on the action as Batman will take on "The 900" in an issue that's got 80 pages between the covers and $7.99 ON the cover. Unless, of course, you'd care to buy the bagged copy and pony up the extra dollar for a digital copy (Marvel's comics come with free digital copies if the comic costs $3.99 or more).
