The Big Bang Theory: Was There A Proposal?

Tonight was supposed to be the big proposal episode of The Big Bang Theory, where someone was to get down on one knee. However, things started out with plenty of relationship problems. Sheldon challenges his assistant Alex to find a Valentine's Day present for his girlfriend Amy. Sheldon gives Alex two thousand dollars and tells her that he thought Amy likes monkeys and the color gray. However, Sheldon doesn't like two of the presents that Alex selects and the one he does like he decides to keep for himself. Leonard and Penny go out to eat with Howard and Bernadette, who are having problems because Bernadette hid Howard's Xbox because he wasn't helping around the house. Penny spots her ex-boyfriend at the restaurant with her ex-best friend who he cheated on her with.  To make things worse, Penny also has to watch her ex-boyfriend propose to his girlfriend at the restaurant. After watching Leonard and Penny argue over the night's events, Howard and Bernadette decide their problems aren't that bad. Instead of forcing Sheldon to go out to a romantic dinner, Amy tells Sheldon that they can stay in to order pizza and watch Star Trek. Sheldon's gift to Amy is making her his emergency contact. Amy is overcome with emotion that she gives Sheldon a big hug, prompting him to tell her to stop ruining Valentine's Day and to order his pizza. Back at the apartment, Leonard is upset that Penny was in a bad mood at the restaurant. Penny tells Leonard she was upset because things were going so well with them that eventually he is going to ask her to marry him and she'll wind up saying yes and the whole thing freaks her out. Leonard promises Penny that she will have to be the one to propose if they are ever to get married. Then, Penny tells Leonard that she has an important question to ask him, which turns out to be if he will be her valentine. At the comic book store, Raj and Stuart throw a party for all the lonely people. Raj gives a speech about how they have to stop defining themselves by if they are in a relationship or not. A girl tells Raj what he said was cool, so Raj asks her out for a cup of coffee, and she accepts. Before leaving, Raj yells, "Later losers." At the lab, Amy gets a phone call. It's someone calling for Sheldon, saying Sheldon thinks he was bitten by a Chinese bird spider. An exasperated Amy tells the caller to put Sheldon on the phone, and she tells Sheldon that she drove over there yesterday for a brain tumor that turned out to be an ice cream headache. After some arguing, Amy relents and says she's on her way. As she's leaving, she mumbles that a brain tumor would explain a lot. So in the end, the only marriage proposal on the episode was Penny's ex-boyfriend proposing to his girlfriend. But at least none of the main cast members wound up breaking up, and it looks like Raj has a girlfriend now.
