Bryan Singer Face Off

During a new interview with IGN, X-Men and X2: X-Men United director Bryan Singer seemed to tease the possibility of a return for Cyclops and Jean Grey in his forthcoming sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Asked whether he'd like to see Scott and Jean, who were killed in Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand in 2005 when Singer left to go work on rebooting Superman, the director said, "Who wouldn't? Who wouldn't? That's all I can say. The good news is that we're all on the same page!" It's worth noting that even if he won't say it outright, he did pick reiterate his commitment to "fixing" some problems with previous films in X-Men: Days of Future Past. On the widely-discussed topic of Mark Millar's desire to create a shared universe between X-Men and related films and the other Fox-owned Marvel property, Fantastic Four, Singer said, "I think that if you really examine the X-Men universe it's every bit as big as the Marvel universe. There are lesser characters, but if you take certain characters there are a myriad of films you could make, and stories you could tell, with these characters as individuals." All that said, it's not a sure thing, at least as far as Singer knows: "It's just something we're thinking about," he said. "Really my big focus was this movie. But we're talking, [producer] Lauren Shuler Donner and I, and we'll see."
