Star Wars Rumor: Knights Of The Old Republic Spinoff Movie Debunked?

While Disney has confirmed that Lucasfilm will be working on Star Wars spinoff movies in addition to Star Wars Episode 7, Disney has not confirmed what any of those Star Wars spinoff movies will be. Most of the rumors so far have focused on either Yoda, Boba Fett, or Han Solo being the first to get a Star Wars spinoff movie. Now, Ain't In Cool News has a brand new rumor that suggests Lucasfilm could be adapting a Star Wars videogame for the big screen. According to Harry Knowles, Drew  Karpyshyn, who created the scenario and much of the dialogue in the Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic video game, left his job at BioWare in February of last year to pursue screenwriting. Reportedly, the rumor going around BioWare is that Drew Karpyshyn is working on a screenplay for a film version of Knights Of The Old Republic. Knowles says he tried to contact Drew Karpyshyn, but he has not heard back. At Comicbook.com, we checked out Drew Karpyshyn's Twitter feed to see if we could gather any clues, and we found a couple. On February 8, someone tweeted to Drew, "@IGN has a poll: Which Star Wars story should @Disney spin into a movie. #TheOldRepublic is in 1st. #Havescriptwilltravel?" Drew Karpyshyn's replied, "Doubt it will happen, but if they ask I sure won't turn them down. #KOTOR". Then on February 16, in response to someone asking if he planned to do anymore Star Wars books, Drew Karpyshyn tweeted, " No #StarWars stuff in the works right now; focusing on Children of Fire, my original fantasy trilogy that's coming out in Sept." So as of two weeks ago, it looks like Karpyshyn didn't think Disney would do a Knights Of The Old Republic movie. And as of a week ago, it looks like Karpyshyn wasn't working on any Star Wars stuff. So unless something happened in the last week, it sure sounds like Drew Karpyshyn isn't working on a Knights Of The Old Republic movie. But if Disney should ask it sounds like he's interested.
