Oscars Biggest Highlight: The Avengers Presenting!

While the Academy Awards might have chosen to overlook films such as The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and The Amazing Spider-Man in the Best Picture category, there is still a big reason for comic book movie fans to watch the Oscars. In what will be the biggest highlight from the Oscars (at least for Comicbook.com), several Marvel’s The Avengers cast mates will be presenting.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo will all present together on the Oscar stage. Downey Jr., Jackson, Renner, and Ruffalo have all been previously nominated for Oscars, but Chris Evans will be making his first Oscar show appearance. We’re not sure why Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson aren’t included, but maybe they will make a surprise appearance.

Since there will be at least five Avengers on stage, we’re expecting (and hoping) that the Oscars gives them a fairly lengthy segment. As far as what to expect, there will likely be lots of laughs. Our predictions are Robert Downey Jr. will plug Iron Man 3 in a clever way, Mark Ruffalo will do a Hulk roar, and Samuel L. Jackson will get bleeped. We’re not sure what Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner will do, but they will likely get their moments as well.

The 85th Academy Awards airs on Sunday, February 24, 2013 starting at 8:30 PM ET on ABC.
