Simon Pegg has struck out at rumors that hit the Web earlier this week suggesting that he might be involved in J.J. Abrams's upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, using fracnhise-appropriate slang to discredit the reports. "No idea where this silly rumour about me attached to the new Star Wars film came from but I can confirm that it's absolute Bantha poodoo," tweeted Pegg, who currently stars for Abrams in the Star Trek franchise. Of course, this might not convince some fans, who believe Pegg to be an unreliable source of rumor-quashing. Ever since he began steadfastly denying the existence of Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek Into Darkness, many fans have thought that he was protesting a bit too much. Pegg, for his part, admits that he's on board with Abrams in disliking the spoiler culture of the Internet, and so it wouldn't be entirely out of character for him to say something misleading in order to maintain the surprise of an announcement or cameo.
