Dark Horse Comics announced today at the Emerald City Comic Con that Mass Effect: Foundation will be launched as an ongoing series set in the world of the Mass Effect video game franchise. The series, which will be considered canon for the video games in the way that (up until now, at least) the Star Wars Expanded Universe has been considered Star Wars canon, is set to be written by Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 head writer Mac Walters. The official description, from Dark Horse: "Mass Effect 2 and lead writer Mac Walters kicks off a new ongoing series, set in the vibrant, engaging world of BioWare's blockbuster science fiction epic! Fans of the award-winning franchise will find new characters tied directly to the newly announced Mass Effect 3: Citadel single-player DLC."
