Man of Steel Krypton

For Krypton fans, the Man of Steel will likely prove to be the most rewarding Superman movie yet. In most previous Superman movies, Krypton has often been treated as just background story to get out of the way. But according to a new article in Total Film Magazine, Man of Steel will offer up a great deal of insight into Superman's  extra-terrestrial roots. Writer David S. Goyer said, "We try to flesh out Krypton and its different political factions, it's fauna, it's science." Of course, one reason for the additional focus on Krypton might be actor Russell Crowe, who is playing Superman's father Jor-El. When a studio commits to bringing in an actor the caliber of Russell Crowe, they obviously want to get as much screen time as possible out of him. In regards to Russell Crowe's role, David S. Goyer said, "It's not a cameo. I think people think he's playing the Marlon Brando role, which isn't necessarily the case." Of course, all of Russell Crowe's role won't take place on Krypton, as Comic-Con footage revealed that Jor-El will appear in a scene involving Superman's Fortress of Solitude. The Man of Steel is scheduled to be released in movie theaters in the United States on June 14, 2013.
