Some footage for the season three premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead has made its way online after AMC aired it during an ad for their upcoming Zombie Apocalypse Marathon, in which the full series will run from the beginning, leading up to the sixteenth and final episode of the season. And, yes, it's some pretty explosive stuff. The ad shows that appears to be Martinez, the Governor's #2, firing off a rocket launcher at one of the prison's guard towers, obliterating the lookout perch completely. The size of the explosion is a bit much--is that just Hollywood magic, or could that be where Rick and company are storing some of their weapons? We know the Governor has been watching traffic come and go, and that he's aware of Rick's armory... The downside to such a cool visual? It seems pretty likely this might be instead of the iconic tank attack from the comics--which probably makes sense, given the practical restrictions of the live-action version. After all, being so close to the woods, there's really just the one access route and with Rick and his company standing guard round the clock, waiting for an attack, it's unlikely they would miss something as big and slow as a tank rumbling up to their fences. The baby's much farther along than she was in the comics, and Lori isn't in recovery from the birth, making it (theoretically) easier to retreat through the rear exits if that were the case. Then again, maybe that's why the episode is called "Welcome to the Tombs." In any event, check out the ad below; the new footage starts around 20 seconds in and only lasts about five or six seconds.
