As the final new #1 issues of Marvel NOW! hit the stands next month, fans will get a glimpse at the July solicitations in April--which will see the first new #1 issues of a second wave of Marvel NOW!, according to Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. During his regular Axel-in-Charge feature at CBR, Alonso said that the success of the Marvel NOW! line has given it another chance to burn through another few months, launching new series every month. "Fear not. There are plans for a Marvel NOW! Wave 2 -- a new wave of titles that will generate the same amount of excitement amongst retailers and fans that the first wave did," Alonso said. "From Uncanny Avengers to Thanos Rising, Marvel NOW! has been a hit, and we're far from done. Look for exciting new series, starting in July and carrying through next year." Marvel Now isn't all, though; Alonso also announced a trio of new limited series--in such a way that begs a few questions. "We'll be making an announcement soon about a three intriguing limited series, featuring eyebrow-raising talent, that fall under the creative umbrella of a much-loved sub-brand. I'm not at liberty to say much more. Oh, and we have more MAX limited series planned, as well." What could those limited series be? Well, earlier this week there was a rumor that Marvel would be launching a series of original graphic novels by top-tier talent--that could be related to this...except that comment about a sub-brand? Could it be that Marvel's recently-announced New Universe launch will get underway soon? Or perhaps a group of 2099 books, in the wake of Dan Slott's announcement that Spider-Man 2099 will be appearing in the Marvel Universe soon?
