Via the Star Trek Into Darkness App and the new issue of Empire Magazine, four new photos have hit the Web today as the big push gets underway to promote the upcoming J.J. Abrams-directed sequel. The image at right is particularly intriguing, as it appears to show a photon torpedo casing--which has been used in the past to fire bodies out of the Enterprise for a space burial. If that is indeed the case, though, not only are not all of the lead characters accounted for but not all of those pictured are dressed properly. Could this be a clue as to the identity of who's in the casing? If so, our guess is that it's someone affiliated with the Federation but not with the Enterprise, and not someone widely liked or respected--thus the small group of those who would have to be there and not much more. This also appears to be a pre-FX shot, and it's likely the casing won't look quite so much like a model in the final version of the film. Beyond that, Empire has debuted a couple of exclusive photos of the cast in combat and a gatefold cover that's giving the central cast and J.J. Abrams a place to hang out.
