In the first season of The Walking Dead, Merle Dixon was left handcuffed to a rooftop. While his brother Daryl went back to look for him, Merle was already gone by the time Daryl got there. Daryl didn't know for sure if his brother was dead or alive. It wasn't until season three of The Walking Dead that Merle showed up again. However, Merle spent most of season three in Woodbury with The Governor, and his reunion with Daryl didn't come until midway through the season. For two of the most popular characters on The Walking Dead, brothers Daryl and Merle got to spend relatively little time together, before Merle was mercilessly killed by The Governor.
