IDW Publishing, who are currently publishing a prequel comics miniseries that leads up to Paramount's summer tentpole Star Trek Into Darkness, will follow that up  later this year with Star Trek After Darkness, an epilogue that will deal with fallout from the events of the anticipated sequel. The story will be published (unlike Countdown to Darkness) in the monthly IDW Star Trek series, which is canon for the J.J. Abrams films. The story takes place in issues #21-23 and will be written by Mike Johnson and artist group Stellar Labs. "The comic story picks up a few days after the movie ends, then jumps ahead about a week," Johnson told CBR. "The storyline address the fallout from both the film and the prequel miniseries Countdown to Darkness. The hope is that the prequel, the movie and the ongoing series tell one big epic story that continues into the months to come."
