According to a teaser for an upcoming article in SFX magazine, flying appears to be somewhat more difficult for Superman in Man Of Steel. Director Zack Snyder said, "It's a more violent experience. It's raw. It takes effort to do it, and that's what we were really going for. It's almost like there's this kind of Right Stuff quality to it. He's constantly booming around, accelerating. You think he's going as fast as he can and then it's like 'Yeeaahh!' He's always got an extra gear he can use." The explanation makes sense based on what has been shown in the Man Of Steel trailer so far. When Superman bends down and puts his fist to the ground before taking flight from the Fortress of Solitude, the ice shattering below him isn't just for dramatic effect. It also means that in Man Of Steel, it's doubtful that fans will see any romantic flights between Superman and Lois Lane like this one from the original Superman movie.
