AMY ADAMS as Lois Lane in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ action adventure “MAN OF STEEL,” a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

The folks over at Comic Book Movie have snagged a video from today's episode of Ellen, on which Amy Adams appears and which features the first officially-released clip from Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. In the clip, embedded below, Lois Lane is called on the carpet for running a story--presumably about Superman--on the Internet edition of The Daily Planet in spite of having been told by Perry White that the story was not to be run. Her response? To totally back off from the piece, saying that her sources came up empty. it seems oddly suspect, especially given Lois's personality, and one has to wonder what her motivations might be for doing so. We've got a couple of SPOILER-ISH ideas as to what it might be, actually... She met Clark, and has feelings for him. This one's probably the slightly less likely of the two, not only because it would be so on-the-nose and predictable but because it would really damage Lois's feminist street cred. The old "reporter falling in love with a source" thing isn't as done to death as it used to be, but at the same time, one of the big things about Lois is the fact that she's so good at her job (except, you know, the whole conspiracy to hide the truth about Clark's identity thing). This would take some of the wind out of that in a big way. She met Martha Kent, and is reconsidering the danger to Clark. This one makes a bit more character sense because it's a moral judgment--is the story worth the government seizing this poor man and turning his life upside down?--as opposed to an emotional one. And it would jive with that scene we noticed over the weekend...
