Star Wars Episode 7 Predictions

With Disney keeping quiet about Star Wars Episode VII for the last several months, it's what other people are saying about the film that has been making headlines. The big Star Wars news of this week is that Credit Suisse analyst Michael Senno predicted that Star Wars Episode VII will make Disney $733 million in profit off of $1.2 billion in global ticket sales. Most follow-up reports are treating it as shocking news that a movie that's still two years away is already predicted to do over a billion dollars at the box office. Our personal reaction though is that Michael Senno's projections are probably too low. If Disney brings back the original Star Wars cast for Star Wars Episode VII, which is what all indications are pointing toward, then they will create a once in a lifetime event for new and old Star Wars fans alike. Iron Man 3 made over $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office this year, and it featured only one superhero. Star Wars Episode VII is an epic event on the scale of The Avengers. Just like there was huge anticipation to see all the individual Avengers come together as a team, there is huge anticipation among the public of seeing the original Star Wars cast return to the big screen. Provided the original cast returns and the movie doesn't completely suck, Star Wars Episode VII has the real potential to become the highest grossing movie of all time. At the very least, Star Wars Episode VII should match the $1.5 billion that The Avengers brought in.
