According to series star Zachary Quinto, the third Star Trek movie in J.J. Abrams's franchise reboot could begin filming as early as 2014, and J.J. Abrams has still not totally ruled out coming back to direct it in spite of his commitment to Star Wars Episode VII. "Star Trek 3 should be filming, I suppose, next year," Quinto told Buzzhub in a recent interview that the site plans to parcel out over a few days. "It's going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That's the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet." They also claim that he teased Abrams as the film's director, although there's no direct quote in the story and, as they and the actor note, the film isn't even officially announced yet so it's hard to know what is and is not pure speculation. Also, while the original Spock might be keen to do a Star Wars movie with Abrams, apparently his successor is not, as Quinto shot that question down.
