Man Of Steel Sequel

Warning:

Man Of Steel spoilers follow. Even though it's been several weeks since the release of the Man Of Steel, everyone is still talking about the film. While Man Of Steel has done very well at the box office, it has received mix feedback from critics. While some critics have called Man Of Steel one of the best comic book movies ever, other critics absolutely hated the film. Even though the film has played well to general audiences, it has also proven to be a divisive film among comic book fans. Of those that didn't like the film, the chief criticism seems to have been that there was too much death and destruction. One particular scene where Superman snaps the neck of Zod seems to be generating the most heat. In addition to complaints of Superman killing, some also professed to missing the charm and the romance of the 1978 Superman movie. While a key focus of the 1978 Superman movie was the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane, the Man Of Steel focused more on Superman's origin and his relationship with his two fathers. Despite the success of Man Of Steel, Warner Bros. executives have to be reading all the criticisms and thinking about what the box office would have been had the movie appealed to everyone. Could Man Of Steel have become the highest grossing movie of all time if it had been met with more universal praise? When Superman Returns was criticized for not having enough action and being too much like the Richard Donner films, Warner Bros. responded by giving fans a very different and very action-packed take on Superman. Now, with critics claiming they miss the Richard Donner films, will the feedback affect the plans for the Man Of Steel sequel? Reportedly, writer David S. Goyer and director Zack Snyder have already signed on for the sequel, so all indications would be that Warner Bros. is going full steam ahead with the new vision of Man Of Steel. However, could Goyer and Snyder already be planning a sequel that will have more universal appeal? The unfortunate reality of the Man Of Steel was that Goyer and Sndyer were in a position where they couldn't please everyone. If they had done a copy of Richard Donner's Superman, then they would have upset critics and fans who wanted to see something different. But by not doing a copy of Richard Donner's Superman, they upset critics and fans who wanted to see the Superman they grew up watching. However, think about how the Man Of Steel ended. After the controversial neck-snapping scene, things were wrapped up with an amusing Daily Planet scene, which was probably the closest scene in the entire movie to something that could have fit into one of Richard Donner's Superman movies. Having satisfied action-starved fans with one of the most epic slugfests ever in a comic book movie, the sequel could very well calm things down and focus more on the relationship between Clark Kent and Lois Lane. If that is indeed what Goyer and Snyder have planned, then they could already be well on the path to delivering a Man Of Steel sequel , which turns out to more universally appealing to critics.
