melinda-may-shieldShe's a quite bad-ass in the series, but ABC have done everything they can to make some noise about S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Melinda May, who seems to be getting more press than anyone this side of Phil Coulson for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Marvel Cinematic Universe-set hourlong drama project set to debut on the network this fall.

Today, there's a new featurette focusing on the character, giving fans a sense of what to expect from Coulson's unlikely pilot.

"Agent May, when you first meet her she's in the offices," says actress Ming-Na Wen, who plays the character. "Agent Coulson recruits her--she's not really there to just drive the bus. She is mysterious, quiet, smart--yet the girl can fight. She believes in protecting this country and she believes that S.H.I.E.L.D. is the way to succeed."
