Denzel Washington Turns Down Fast & Furious Role, Heads to Broadway

Denzel Washington is headed to Broadway to appear in a revival of A Raisin in the Sun opposite Diahan Carroll, reports Deadline. The news comes just hours after it broke that the Oscar-winning actor turned down a role in the popular Fast & the Furious franchise. A Raisin in the Sun will be staged at the Barrymore Theatre where the original production opened 55 years ago. Opening tomorrow, Washington will appear in 2 Guns, an adaptation of the BOOM! Studios comic book series by the same name. It's widely expected to overtake The Wolverine as the nation's top action film, although nothing is likely to beat out The Smurfs 2 as the weekend's box office champ.
