Agents Of SHIELD

ABC announced today that given the massive ratings success of the Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot, the network will re-air the show on Thursday at 8 p.m. A Shark Tank re-run had been scheduled for that timeslot, but swapping the two is a pretty obvious move; it allows the network to capitalize on the buzz of yesterday's high ratings and potentially draw in another wave of new first-time viewers before the second episode airs next week. It also makes sense for ABC to play to their strengths since another of their Tuesday debuts, Lucky 7, was the lowest-rated fall drama premiere in ABC history. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is being touted as the top-rated new drama in the key demographic since 2009, but that enthusiasm should be tempered with the fact that the 2009 show in question was V and was gone a year and a half later (thanks to SHIELDSite for that heads-up). Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel Studios's first television series, was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss Whedon directed the pilot, and his brother and sister-in-law will serve as showrunners for the rest of the season.
