's Sharon Lawrence, Hatfields & McCoys's Andrew Howard, 90210's Arielle Kebbel and newcomer Jaina Lee Ortiz have been cast in Amazon Studios's The After, an apocalyptic drama directed by The X-Files creator Chris Carter. It's the first time since 2002 that Carter has been involved with the day-to-day operations of a TV series. The quartet join Jamie Kennedy, Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) and Aldis Hodge (Leverage), who were just cast last week. According to the series's logline, The After takes place "at the moment of apocalypse." It's not clear exactly how that will work out, but in a pilot it should be alright to have virtually no time pass at all. If the show is ordered to series, that's where it might become a bit more sticky. Deadline reports that Lawrence will play Francis, a wealthy mysterious woman who resides in Bel Air. Howard will play McCormack, a tall foul-mouthed, sarcastic and sardonic Irishman. Kebbel will play Tammy, a sexy, professional woman. Ortiz will play Officer Marly Gonzalez, a young police officer.
