Army Of Darkness Sequel

Asked via Twitter whether he will direct Army of Darkness 2, Evil Dead (remake) director Fede Alvarez seemingly confirmed today that Sam Raimi will return to the franchise that made him a household name. Of course, those who have been paying attention all along ought to know that by now--during South by Southwest back in March, Raimi was the one who brought up the prospect of naming the fourth film in the (original) Evil Dead universe Army of Darkness 2 in order to avoid creating two parallel franchises both called Evil Dead. At the time, series star Bruce Campbell, who recently confirmed he will be coming back to reprise his role as Ash, added, "Sam threatens this every six months. I've heard this a thousand times because in the back of his mind, he never wants to let go because he loved making those movies. We all loved making them together. They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he's not going to let that go, and I'm never going to say 'no.' It'll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that's what he does and who knows? It may happen." At the time, the fact that the film even existed was a possibility brought up by Raimi, who admitted he'd felt pressured to return to the franchise by fans who begged him to at conventions.
