Thor: The Dark World opened in theaters in the United States last night, but the film has been playing internationally for over a week. While critical reviews of the film have been mixed, Thor: The Dark World is the best rated superhero movie by audiences so far this year.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, Thor: The Dark World has an 86% liked percentage among their users, giving the film an average rating of 4.1 out of 5. At the time of this article, there had been 139,054 user ratings submitted. In comparison, Iron Man 3 had a 81% liked it score and an average rating of 4, Man Of Steel had a 75% liked it score and an average rating of 3.9, The Wolverine had a 73% liked it score and an average rating of 3.7, and Kick-Ass 2 had a 66% liked it and an average rating of 3.6.
It’s possible that Thor: The Dark World’s rating could drop as more viewers see the movie. But it’s also possible that Thor: The Dark World could benefit from not having a controversial twist or scene like Iron Man 3 and Man Of Steel both had. While many fans liked Iron Man 3 and Man Of Steel, there were also quite a few fans alienated by twists that they felt didn't stay true to the comic books.
