When director Bryan Singer tweeted the announcement that an X-Men: Apocalypse movie was coming in 2016, most fans assumed that he would be directing the film. However, there was always the possibility that he might just be involved in some other capacity, such as a producer. Now, Vulture has confirmed that Bryan Singer will definitely be directing X-Men: Apocalypse. In addition to confirming Singer as director, Vulture also drops a couple details on the film. X-Men Apocalypse will be a direct sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film will be set up in the closing moments of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Vulture even makes mention of the rumored X-Men: Days of Future Past after the credits scene, giving it some more credibility. X-Men: Apocalypse is also said to focus strictly on the younger McAvoy-Fassbender cast. X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to be released in movie theaters on May 23, 2014.
