In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bryan Singer hinted a bit at what X-Men: Apocalypse, the film that will follow X-Men: Days of Future Past, could be about.

While Singer didn't give up specific plot points, he did reveal some themes. "It will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It's something that's always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers."

These themes certainly fit into any movie dealing with Apocalypse, as the villain is considered to be the very first mutant to appear, historically, in the Marvel Universe. While most have been assuming that Singer will direct X-Men: Apocalypse, it's not for sure that he will be. Singer said, "I'm co-writing the story and I'm producing it. I'm negotiating to direct. We're in the process. We're trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it." And even though rumors have circulated about an after the credits tease for X-men: Apocalypse in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Singer insists that he hasn't decided on any teaser scene yet. He did reveal that something that happens in X-Men: Days of Future Past will be a cause of what happens in X-Men: Apocalypse. X-Men: Apocalypse is due to hit theaters in 2016.
