Back in October 2013, Total Film interviewed Jesse Eisenberg and Richard Ayoade for their movie The Double. As part of the interview, they asked both actors about Batman Vs. Superman. While it hadn't been announced at the time of the interview that Eisenberg would be playing Lex Luthor, it's unknown if Eisenberg had already been talking to Warner Bros. about the role. His body language certainly gives the indication that he was a little uncomfortable with the topic of conversation. When asked if he was on Batman or Superman's side, Eisenberg said, "I've given it a lot of thought, as has the whole family…my family. Richard Ayoade chimed in, "It's kind of broken your family apart is the sad thing." Eisenberg continued, "My immediate family is fine. It's the extended family that want speak to us anymore, which I suspect was brewing. This was the straw. In a way, it's a good thing." In retrospect, the funniest part of the video is when Ayoade asks the reporter who has been cast as Lex Luthor. The reporter responds by asking Ayoade if he would be interested, prompting Ayoade to quip, "You're assuming I haven't been contacted." Eisenberg just laughs and looks away. Batman Vs. Superman is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 6, 2016.
