Vertigo editor Mark Doyle announced today via Twitter that he was taking over as the editor in charge of the Batman office. "Extremely excited to confirm I'm the new BATMAN Group Editor," he tweeted. "Plus, still knee-deep in Vertigo with American Vampire and The Wake!" As many fans will notice, the common denominator in all of that is Scott Snyder, the current writer on Batman and one of DC's most prized creative assets at the moment. Between Snyder's Batman and Superman Unchained, he sold more comics for the publisher than just about anyone in 2013--and the acclaimed Vertigo titles he's worked on are a nice bonus that give both Snyder and DC some street cred with critics and the alt-comix crowd who first fell in love with Snyder after his creator-owned work like Voodoo Heart and Severed. Both Snyder and Doyle will be working hard on Batman Eternal, a new, weekly series that, among other things, will bring Stephanie Brown to The New 52 for the first time.
