Godzilla Movie Trailer

The second tailer for Godzilla arrived earlier this week and it was pretty exciting, but there is a lot going on in those two and half minutes. So much so that some it of it may be missed. We're here to go over the trailer and highlight the biggest takeaways and the biggest questions left unanswered. As it turns out, we may be getting a very different movie than we expected.

Godzilla

First of all, this is not the Statue of Liberty in New York City. You can tell just by looking behind it at the landscape. It is likely the Statue of Liberty located at New York, New York in Las Vegas. It does suggest that, while Godzilla will likely make landfall in San Francisco, he moves on pretty fast.

Godzilla

So what's going on here? Something radioactive, obviously, that seems like it was broken into by some sort of creature. Did the creature also leave that weird white slime on it?

Godzilla

It seems that they've been trying to kill Godzilla, or monsters like him, for a while. The dialog in the trailer seems to suggest a cover up of some sort. But how did the whole thing start? And how do you hide a monster the size of Godzilla for 60 years?

Godzilla

Those look like some kind of egg sacs attached to a missile. Godzilla is known to subsist on Nuclear energy, but is this also the way he breads? And haven't we gone down this route before?

Godzilla (18)

See that shadow moving straight down through the clouds? It sure is big, but it's not Godzilla. Is there a second monster in Godzilla?

Godzilla

Those are definitely some giant wings. Did Warner Bros. and Legendary add Rodan to this film and not tell anybody about it?

Godzilla (4)

Now this is interesting. A giant monster corpse? How many monsters are in this movie?

Godzilla

So what is that? A foot? A weird wing tip? A tongue? It doesn't look like it belongs to Godzilla…could it belong to the winged creature, or something else?

Godzilla (6)

Big scary monster, coming right at you. So what do we take away from all of this? I think its safe to say that nuclear energy will feature heavily into the plot of Godzilla, potentially as something that draws Godzilla to it. It also seems to figure into his biology someone, whether for energy or for breeding purposes, as weird as that sounds. It also looks like there is a legacy of of monsters, a history that has been covered up somehow. It also seems like there are at least two monsters active in the film: Godzilla, and whatever the one flying through the sky is. The rest is hard to tell. Godzilla comes to theaters May 16, 2014.
