Batman: Arkham Knight

Speaking to the Official PlayStation Blog at his year's Game Developer Conference, Dax Ginn, the Brand Marketing Producer for Rocksteady Studios, shared some more details on the plot and the Batmobile in "Batman: Arkham Knight." Ginn says that Batman will be facing a united front of villains. "'Arkham Knight' picks up about 12 months after the events of Arkham City," said Ginn. "The power vacuum left by the Joker's death has been filled by the return of Scarecrow, and Scarecrow is back to unify the rogue's gallery to take down and destroy the Batman, once and for all." For Rocksteady, the game is about "closing the book" on the ultimate Batman experience. "The missing piece has always been the Batmobile," Ginn said, "but we needed next-gen horsepower in order to deliver on that." Ginn explained that the presence of the Batmobile effected the entire design of Gotham City in the game. "It was critical to us that the driving experience felt authentic," explained Ginn. "The streets have to be a particular shape, a particular width..There shouldn't be an obstacle that it can't just tear through. It is genuinely just this unstoppable force." Ginn also said that fans can expect "Arkham Knight" to be the most emotional game in the series. "The game itself, in 'Arkham Knight,' is massive," said Ginn "It's easily the biggest one we've ever made. But it's also the most emotional game we've ever written. What does it mean for those people who are close to Batman to be drawn into his war on crime? What cost is there to these people that he loves? So this game really examines what happens when those relationships start to fall apart." With those themes in mind, it's easy to see why Rocksteady decided to add Oracle to the game for their final outing, as she's always been one of the most visible reminders of the cost of being Batman's ally. "Batman: Arkham Knight" is scheduled for release this fall.
