Jack Stanley will write the script for Chronicle 2, the sequel to Josh Trank's surprisingly successful found footage superhero film, Chronicle, according to Deadline. Stanley is newcomer, with no production credits to his name, but he does have two scripts making the round: one, called Sweetheart, about an assassin going to her high school reunion and another, Silver, which is a werewolf story. These scripts have yet to be picked up, but they may have left an impression on someone at Fox. In the original Chronicle, whilst attending a party, three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery underground. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides. Chronicle, released in 2012, was directed by Josh Trank, who is directing Fox's Fantastic Four reboot, and written by Max Landis. The film starred Michael B. Jordan (who will play the Human Torch in Trank's reboot), Dane DeHaan (who plays Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Alex Russell, Michael Kelly, and Ashley Hinshaw. Chronicle received largely positive reviews from critics and took in $126 million at the box office worldwide.
