Speaking to Bloomberg TV, Stan Lee discusses the incredible popularity of Superheroes in modern Hollywood. "People love things that are bigger than life," said Lee, "and they didn't make that many until recently, when the producers discovered that these superheroes are the most popular thing ever with the public." When asked about potential "superhero fatigue," due to the continually growing amount of superhero movies being released each year, Lee didn't seemed worried. He compared the phenomena to the James Bond franchise. "I don't how long that's been going on," he explained, "and it's still a big event when a new James Bond movie comes out. I think it will the same thing with these Marvel superheroes." Lee is, in fact, counting on that to be true as he plans to launch a series of international superhero films produced by his company, POW! Entertainment. "There is such a demand for these bigger than life character," he said, "that we feel…that we're really doing the public a favor by giving them what they want." Lee was asked about why he felt DC Comics has fallen behind Marvel at the box office and Lee said it had to do with their differing approaches to characters. "A character should be someone that the reader or viewer really care about," said Lee, "and maybe we, at Marvel, have put a little more effort into refining the characteristics and the nature of our heroes. Maybe a little more effort than they have, on the other side of the aisle." The Amazing Spider-Man 2, based on Lee's most popular creation, will come to theaters May 2.
