Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Brett Dalton Stars in Kickstarter-Funded Movie By Veronica Mars's Lowell

Chris Lowell, star of Veronica Mars and Enlisted, is crowdfunding his new film Beside Still Waters on Kickstarter, and received a little bump from Veronica Mars creator and iZombie showrunner Rob Thomas today. With filming wrapping up on the iZombie pilot, Thomas plugged Lowell's Kickstarter for Beside Still Waters, a modestly-budgeted drama about "drinking and dancing. Laughter and secrets. Sex, drugs, mischief and regret. A movie about friendship," according to its campaign website. The movie, which Lowell co-wrote and directed, is an ensemble piece that stars (among others) Brett Dalton, who stars as Agent Grant Ward in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jessy Hodges of True Blood and Erin Darke, who appeared in Kill Your Darlings with Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. "Beside Still Waters is a love letter to the place I grew up and the people I grew up with," Lowell writes at the movie's page. "Everyone has that home that was central to their youth - where we sipped our first drink or stole our first kiss, where we shared secrets and mischief, laughter and love. For my friends and I, this place was my family's lakehouse in Georgia. "In 2011 my family moved away, so we sold the lakehouse. I had to say goodbye to a pivotal chapter of my youth. My writing partner (Mo Narang) and I began to explore the themes of loss and nostalgia, of letting go and holding on. Beside Still Waters was born."
