Gambit - Tatum

Speaking from backstage at the MTV movie awards, Channing Tatum confirmed that he has spoken to at least one producer about potentially playing Gambit in an X-Men film. "I met with Lauren Shuler Donner," said Tatum, "and I would love…Gambit's my, really, only X-Man that I've ever loved…I guess just being from down south…I just related to him. He's just the most un-X-Men X-Man that's ever been an X-Man…He's a thief, he's not even a hero. He's kind of walking the line of grey." Lauren Shuler Donner, X-Men franchise producer, has already stated that she'd like to see Tatum star in a Gambit solo feature. Rumor is that Twentieth Century Fox has come around on the idea of doing spinoff X-Men films spotlighting individual characters after scrapping plans for a series of X-Men Origins solo films following X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As Tatum mentions, the Jupiter Ascending star is known to be quite fond of the X-Men's Cajun charmer and says that he'd be happy to play the character if the "stars aligned" to make it happen. The next film in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past, comes to theaters on May 23. Channing Tatum can next be seen co-starring with Mila Kunis in Jupiter Ascending, opening July 18.
