IDW announced this weekend at WonderCon that Smith will follow up his Judge Dredd: Year One miniseries with a follow-up miniseries centering around Judge Anderson. A new five-part miniseries set in the world of Judge Dredd focusing on Judge Anderson will debut this August: Judge Dredd: Anderson, Psi-Division, by writer Matt Smith and artist Carl Critchlow, will continue to explore Dredd's early years in this follow-up to Smith's Judge Dredd: Year One series. "It starts with Cass getting a psi-flash of a heist at the opening of an exhibition of Cursed Earth antiquities at the Megapolitan Museum of Modern History," Smith told Comic Book Resources. "Investigating, she discovers perps attempting to steal a map while a mutant has psychically blacked out the whole area, rendering everyone unconscious. In a bid to find out what the criminals needed the map for, she goes on their trail." The writer added, "It's a kind-of sequel to Year One, in that Anderson was born in 2080, the year Year One was set. And though she's now 24 in 2104, the repercussions of what happened in Year One will resonate." Anderson, of course, is a fan-favorite and was featured in 2012's cult-hit Dredd 3D from Lionsgate and Rebellion. A sequel to that film is perpetually being discussed but not yet greenlit. Her character's apparent suicide was a major plot thread in Judge Dredd Megazine last year. While IDW is trying to capture the tone of the 2000 AD stories better than previous American publishers have, they are not bound by that continuity.
