Alterna Comics have released a teaser trailer for The Chair, the forthcoming feature film based on one of their best-selling comics. The Chair follows the story of Richard Sullivan, an innocent man struggling to escape execution on death row. Witnessing the torture and murder of his fellow inmates at the hand of the prison's sadistic and psychotic Warden, Sullivan decides that the only way to survive is to fight back. But as he matches the savagery and brutality occurring in the prison, Sullivan is forced to come face to face with his own sanity. The film is directed by Chad Ferrin with director of Photography Dave DeFino; the teaser features Bill Oberst Jr. as The Warden. Also starring in the film are Eric Roberts as Murphy, a "brutal and sarcastic" prison guard who terrorizes Sullivan. Derrick Damions plays another guard named Simmons, Jacob Banser as an inmate nicknamed Bones. Zach Galligan and Kyle Hester have been cast as prison guards Riley and Bowen, respectively. Ezra Buzzington, rumored before to play the part of the insane and rambling inmate, Tudley, has now been officially cast. Kin Shriner (the voice of Green Arrow in the Justice League animated series) has been cast as Officer Oliver, the officer that arrests main character Richard Sullivan. Alterna's Peter Simeti, who is credited not just as a co-writer but also as producer and creator of the graphic novel, said that the rest of the main cast, Sullivan himself, is very close to being finalized. Producers hope to supplement the film's budget with a $300,000 Kickstarter campaign, which will kick off in mid-May. Rewards will include props, wardrobe, books, posters, copies of the film – all signed by the cast and crew - set-used and signed chairs from The Chair, and several on-camera roles as extras. Check out the trailer below.
