The Big Bang Theory Is Banned In China

China is stepping up its efforts to censor foreign television streaming into the country via the Internet. As part of that action, China's has ordered television streaming websites to remove certain popular television series from their offerings, including The Big Bang Theory. The government body responsible for the takedown order - the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television – has given no reason or explanation for the demands. The organization had previously stated their intent to crackdown on internet streaming content, which had previously gotten away with airing content that would have been banned on traditional television outlets in China. Other shows targeted in the crackdown include The Good Wife, NCIS, and The Practice. House of Cards and The Walking Dead may be next. The Big Bang Theory can still be seen in the United States, airing Thursday nights on CBS.
