As part of Batman's 75th anniversary celebration, DC Entertainment has declared that Wednesday, July 23 is "Batman Day," and is partnering with thousands and comic book retailers and bookstores nationwide to celebrate. Fans who visit participating retailers will receive a free, special edition copy of Detective Comics #27, which reimagines Batman's 1939 debut. The issue is designed by Chip Kidd and scripted by Brad Meltzer. Additionally, DC Entertainment will provide retailers with other collectibles for the "Batman Day" celebration, including a Batman 75th anniversary cape, bookmarks featuring essential Batman graphic novels and four Batman masks designed by artist Ryan Sook that will spotlight Batman's different iconic looks from his history. Masks include:

  • DETECTIVE COMICS #27: Batman's first appearance, as drawn by Bob Kane
  • BATMAN '66: inspired by the classic TV series starring Adam West
  • THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS: As drawn by Frank Miller
  • DC COMICS – THE NEW 52: As drawn by Greg Capullo

Fans visiting comic shops for "Batman Day" will also be able to purchase Robin Rises: Omega #1, the first issue of the new miniseries from Peter J. Tomasi and Andy Kubert, and Grayson #1, the new series starring the original Robin – Dick Grayson – as a super spy, from Tim Seely and Mikel Janin. "Batman Day" will be celebrated in over 1,000 libraries nationwide on Saturday, July 26th. The special edition of Detective Comics #27 will also be available as a free download on all digital platforms on July 23.
