Marvel Entertainment have released a new video interview with Marvel's Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell, in which the actress indicates that the show's first season will run for only eight episodes. Agent Carter, which will have a midseason debut in January 2015 and will run as a companion to the recently-renewed Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., stars Atwell in her role as Peggy Carter, first seen onscreen in Captain America: The First Avenger. She briefly reprised the role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and also starred in a Marvel One-Shot short film attached to the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray. "I feel like there's a responsibility that she's what everyone wants her to be," Atwell said of the role, saying that she was touched by being called back after four years to reprise the role. "Fans feel that they've seen her being capable, being sexy, being a femme fatale and they want to see something more; they want to see the different dimensions of her: what makes her tick, what makes her crumble, what makes her crash and the limitations of what she is becuase that makes her all the more relatable." She added, "Over the arc of the eight episodes, there'll be a very different facet to who she is that won't disappoint the fans in making sure that she has a story within herself as well as the stories of each episode fighting who she's fighting against and still battling with her own demons and losing the love of her life and what the personal cost to her of that is."
