Early Story Details For Avengers: Age of Ultron

Early story details from Avengers: Age of Ultron have made their way online (via The Latino Review). Be warned that the following article contains potential spoilers for the film, though everything listed here is likely to take place very early in the film, be shown in advertisements and promotions leading up to the film's release, and is subject to change.

The report states that Avengers: Age of Ultron will begin immediately following the tag from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with the Avengers teaming up to attack the Hydra outpost where Baron Von Strucker is hiding out. Hydra fights back, and Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch fight alongside them. Von Strucker has somehow gotten his hands on the corpse of the Chitauri Leviathan from The Avengers and Scarlet Witch casts a hex on the Hulk to convince him it's alive. Hulk goes a little crazy, but eventually the bad guys are all gathered up and put in holding.

The Avengers go back to Avengers Tower to party. Everyone takes turns trying to pick up Thor's hammer, but no one can do it. Captain America can nudge it a bit, but that's all. James Rhodes is also hanging out with the team.

Throughout all of this we also get the sense of some romantic tension. Turns out Black Widow and Bruce Banner have a very Buffy-Angel type relationship going, where they're both into each other but don't go forward with it for fear of Banner Hulking-out and hurting Widow. Meanwhile, Thor and Jane Foster are on the outs. Jane is hanging out with Chris O'Dawd's character from Thor: The Dark World and Thor tries to act like he's not bothered.

If it sounds like there's a lot going on here, there is. The report says the film will easily be more than two hours long. The Avengers was successful enough that Marvel Studios has given Joss Whedon all the resources he needs to make the Avengers movie he's always dreamed of. The increased focus on interpersonal relationships definitely suggests that he's leaving even more of his personal mark on this film than the first.
