Simon Pegg is a noted fan of the original Star Wars trilogy and critic of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. J.J. Abrams, a friend of Pegg's after working together on the Star Trek reboot, is currently directing the beginning of a brand new Star Wars trilogy featuring the cast of the original films. Speaking to Sky Movies, Pegg was asked if he believed the films were in good hands with Abrams.

"I don't think you could be in safer hands, to be honest," Pegg replied. "It's just the best thing in the world that could happen, that he's got a hold of it now. He's very keen to make the film in line with the original three. The mode of production, its being shot on film, they're using a huge amount of physical effects, puppets, masks, stuff that will make it feel very much continuous with the original three even though its set 30 years later. And it's going to be awesome. I think it's going to drop bombs on the world. It's going to be absolutely amazing."

There are rumors that Pegg was on set during the filming of Episode VII in Abu Dhabi and he actually has a secret cameo role in the film.

Star Wars Episode VII comes to theaters December 18, 2015.
