The Walking Dead Set Photos: Is This Father Gabriel's Backstory?

While it isn't yet confirmed that new series regular Seth Gilliam will play Father Gabriel Stokes in the upcoming fifth season of AMC's The Walking Dead, it seems a safe bet...and now we've got an overturned church bus surrounded by walkers.

Obviously, this could be taking place in the present day, but the more likely scenario seems to be that there are flashbacks in play...especially if fans are right in their theory that Father Gabriel is the one driving the car that took Beth Greene last season.

That's a pair of set photos from The Spoiling Dead Fans, the Facebook group that's been working overtime in Atlanta to try and figure out just what the heck has happened in the first five or so episodes of the new season.

Note how clean the bus looks? Couple that with Gabriel's backstory from the comics -- that he lost his whole flock, many of them after he refused to help them -- and there's a decent chance this could be his tale.

There's always the outside chance it ties back to Terminus, too; the church they have there appears to be mostly dedicated to mourning, and some fans have speculated that will be a major driver in the Termites' story going forward.

The Walking Dead Season Five kicks off in October; a Fourth of July weekend marathon next week will likely give a tiny tease of what's to come, with a more extensive look slated for Comic Con International: San Diego next month.
