Beloved Comedienne Carol Kane Cast as Penguin's Mother in Gotham

Carol Kane, the Academy Award-nominated actress best known for her roles in Taxi, The Princess Bride and Scrooged, has been cast as the mother of The Penguin in the upcoming FOX series Gotham.

TVLine reports that Kane has been cast in the recurring role of Gertrud, the mother of Oswald Cobblepot (played by Robin Lord Taylor).

A proud and faded beauty with delusions of grandeur, Kane's Gertrud will first appear in Episode 2.

Kane has recently appeared in episodes of Girls and Anger Management. Gotham will air Mondays at 8/7c on FOX this fall.

Kane is best known for playing oddball roles and for her distinctive voices. She has, in recent years, done a lot of voice acting, including on Disney's own Phineas and Ferb.
