Mark Wahlberg Rumored For Six Million Dollar Man

Heck, he just rebuilt Optimus Prime in a barn last week.

That's right, folks -- The Tracking Board has it that Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg is in Universal's crosshairs to play Steve Austin in an upcoming feature film adaptation of '70s TV hit The Six Million Dollar Man.

The Rock Star and Boogie Nights star would play the title role of an astronaut whose body is rebuilt with cybernetic technology after a traumatic injury from an aircraft crash.Peter Berg is attached to produce and possibly direct with Harvey Weinstein also producing (he bought the rights up years ago and has reportedly retained them even after the sale of his company).

The project has been in various stages of development since the mid-'90s, when Kevin Smith wrote a draft of a screenplay that was ultimately turned into the comic book The Bionic Man for Dynamite. Others attached to the film over the years have included Jim Carrey, Leonardo DiCaprio and writer/director Todd Phillips.
